For the record, I hate most country music. Unless it was made before…1980? Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith and anyone from Nashville can all kiss it. On the other hand, Loretta Lynn is one tough kitty. Love how she smiles the whole way through this song. ”Ya best move your feet, if you don’t wanna eat, a meal that’s called Fist City”

Really honored to share some new work on FOT over the next few days! This site has been a great source of inspiration for me over the years. There’s no central theme for the week, just barfing up assorted phrases, lyrics and thoughts on processes and style that have been hanging out in my brain. Bear with me, thanks for checkin’ out my stuff!

Here Comes The Neighborhood
We are pleased to have Curtis Jinkins as our 23rd Guest Post’r. Operating under the moniker of “The Neighborhood Studio”, Curtis’ skills in illustration, lettering, and typography can get us all to Mars and back with just a snap of his fingers (and a sharpened pencil). He’s going to take us on a week long journey that will be the perfect way to cap off the summer and bring in the autumn.
The Fox is Black Collaboration
Our friend Bobby at The Fox is Black asked me to create the lettering for a poster of a phrase he created for his third installment of his Quarterly.co mailer. It seemed appropriate to have the phrase be treated in a calligraphic style. Finally, a big thank you goes out to Erik Hamline of Steady Print Shop Co. who screen printed the poster with a classy split fountain gradation to bring it to life.
