Jennifer Daniel asked us to contribute to her farewell Week in Review before moving to Bloomberg Business week. Admiring her work and the Times, I put everything on hold and dove in. The article is about a New York perspective on the Oscars, so we hijacked the western film title theme with a picture of the city instead of desert, and I drew some bifurcated, inverted-contrast letters in the spirit of classic American Woodblock types (with plenty of inspiration from Rob Roy Kelly’s book).
