I was thrilled when 8 Faces magazine asked me to create a poster for their artist series. There was several ideas I juggled with before editor Elliot Jay Stocks helped me narrow it down to one. Which is the post you see above, ‘Curves Are a Thing of Beauty’. I knew the phrase had to be done in a clean lettering style that evoked the elegance of the message. These A3 sized posters are limited to an edition of 100. It’s printed using a combination of metallic gold ink that is then overlaid with white ink. If you’d like one yourself order it here.

Cheers to my friends at FOT for allowing me to spread my nonsense all over their pages this week. It’s been a real pleasure. – CDR

The Code
I’ve been working on some websites lately… and listening to A Tribe Called Quest. Last night while trying to calm my mind and ease into sleep, the image above came to mind. I think I may need a day off the coding. – CDR

Got To Have It
Drawn & Photographed by CDRyan
For day two of my stint at FOT I’ve decided to bring in one of my Northern Soul comps so Dennis and I can nerd out on it. We’d be much more impressed, I’m sure, if I had the original 45’s. – CDR

The Monogram
Digitized & Illustrated by CDRyan
Today is my first day of my new temp gig at FOT… and I’m quite happy to be here. So happy in fact I had my tailor monogram my shirts for the occasion. A Friend Of Type should never pass up the opportunity to look good. Cheers. – CDR

HIGHWAY by Dan Cassaro
Announcements by Dan Cassaro
HIGHWAY is a new typeface by Dan Cassaro and an attempt to capture the charm of hand-done early to mid-century Futura clones; the kind of beautiful lettering that happens when a human hand tries to recreate something mechanical. Tons of alternate characters, ligatures, and OpenType sorcery make for endless custom lettering for logos, signage, and seminal prog-rock double albums. Roll on, Babes.
