Ok ok, I think I have the obscenities out of my system. Today’s post uses my new typeface “Snowflake” (available on my site and on Veer), even the fancy border is made with characters from the typeface. Pretty sure my holiday cards this year will just be curse words set in this font.

Bushwick
Neighborhood pride! I live in Bushwick and always wanted an excuse to draw something with my neighborhood name. I also love Neil Young’s Harvest album, especially the type, and thought that the look of that type was perfect for the word (and probably perfect for the hipster populous slowly taking over the hood). If you wikipedia Bushwick, you find out all kinds of fun facts. The meaning of the original Dutch name from the 1600’s is “little town in the woods” and it used to actually encompass all of what is now Williamsburg and Greenpoint Brooklyn too.

Jessica is Her Name
We are super excited to have illustrator, typographer and female, Jessica Hische as our tenth guest post’r. For being a young gun, Jessica’s work in the last few years has been seen by every living creature that has walked this planet. While juggling a schedule that takes her around the globe and back again to Brooklyn, she manages to find the time to make it to class every week to the Type@Cooper program as well as producing some inspiring work in those times of procrastination. Be sure to check Friends of Type this week to see what she has up her sleeves.

Sriracha on Everything
Digitized by Jessica Hische
In lieu of yesterday’s post, I wanted to pay tribute to my favorite condiment, Sriracha, which some of my friends affectionately call “cock sauce” (because of the rooster on the packaging). If you haven’t tried Sriracha, you have not yet lived.
