I have been inspired a lot lately from Jessica Hische and made an attempt to cure this script/ribbon itch of mine. Here is a peak at the process.
Step 1: Begin to sketch out some really rough letterforms.
Step 2: A quick exploratory of how the characters can play with each other.
Step 3: Start cleaning up the lines to get a better idea of the composition.
Step 4: Feeling the ribbon is too thick I begin to start thinning the weight and create larger negative spaces and tease the idea of adding flourishes.
Step 5: Refine step 4 and flourish the rest of it out. Trace one more time and add some gradients with a number 4H pencil (used up the HB’s… Art store run tomorrow) Enjoy.
