Be Like Jordan

We’ve been long admirers of Jordan Metcalf‘s no-style as style approach to lettering, something that we’re strong believers in. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Jordan has built an impressive mountain of work for a wide range of clients as well as pushing himself with experiments of all sorts, creating worlds out of of letters that we want to escape into. We are thrilled to have him as our 26th Guest Post’r.

Win Some, Lose Some

Outtakes of rejected artwork for Little Dragon’s album, Nabuma Rubberband.  The album contained a consistent sound of stormy synth undercurrents. Which is correlated to the dark and cold winter of Gothenburg, Sweden where it was recorded. Which inspired the photographer’s (JUCO) to pitch the idea of shooting them submerged in water in an outdoor environment. JUCO approached me to develop a wordmark to be made into neon. Neon as a medium was the right visual to represented their unique sound. The options with the neon on different backdrops where intended to be cover art for the singles. Give it a good listen and you’ll be able to connect the mood of the album to the visuals. But, You win some you lose some.
