hey guys, is this a pretty blatant imitation of Jeremy Begel’s Africa type for the Fader… ?http://www.makingthingspublic.com/pages/The%20Fader.htm

re: begel’s africa type for the fader, i wouldn’t say imitation since i hadn’t seen that issue before. the letterforms for toto came from type i did for a series of LOVE-themed cards and applied the west african patterns within them (both circa 07) while listening to an oldies radio station.
i was probably more inspired by Non-Format back then but we know that the bold counterless trend has been around for quite some time now. maybe we were both inspired by same oldies station.
