How to be a Friend Workshop
Digitized & General by The Friends
In October of 2012 we conducted a sold out lettering workshop at AIGA/NY called ‘How to be a Friend’. Attendees learned tips, tricks and insight to our process in creating a typical post for Friends of Type. Shown above are 17 ampersand examples created by each participant. House Guests
Drawn by Jason Wong
My wife, Jordan, and I (aka enormouschampion) were asked by Heath Ceramics to create a graphic for their upcoming show titled “Brooklyn Visits Heath” where they’ll be highlighting craft products for the table and home by Brooklyn-based artisans and designers. They wanted something that had a Brooklyn vibe and after presenting a few ideas we landed on a remix this old post.
Bigfoot’s Woodshop
Carved & Drawn by Erik Marinovich
If you happen to be in San Francisco this Thursday evening (11/08) you should attend the opening of the Bigfoot-inspired art show called, ‘I Don’t Believe in You Either’. This exhibition was developed and curated by Office. They invited myself and other talented folk to contribute a tree round for the show. I recently acquired wood carving tools from my dad which I used to hand carve the word ‘Gigantic’. To me this word encapsulates the larger than life folklore of this mysterious hairy being. Here are a series of process pics below and hope to see you at the show! Btw, proceeds of the sales will be donated to 826 Valencia and 826 Boston.

Oso and Miggs
Digitized by Erik Marinovich
My friends Nicole and Stephanie run a hair salon in San Francisco named Oso and Miggs. They asked me to create a lettering composition to be printed on a tote bag that’ll be given to clients as a holiday gift. It was a great opportunity to create a script that mimics the quality of a fine engraving line at a large scale. Attached below is a process gif below for you to check out the steps.
