GIMMIE INDIE ROCK!!!
We are pleased to have Jason Gnewikow, our 7th Guest Post’r for Friends of Type, take the reins for this last week of July. Hailing from the the Midwest and now residing in Brooklyn, Jason’s work can be seen and heard all around us. As former guitarist for The Promise Ring, he has also produced some of the best and most interesting record sleeves in recent memory.
Today, as he juggles his time as a founding member of the art+design collective Athletics and his role as a quarter-owner of Blackout, one of the finer bars in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, he still manages to squeeze in the occasional getaway. For some added insight, check out this episode of Western State from a few years back and the hot off the press interview below.

Being a teen in the 90’s and neck deep into mid-western punk rock, I was familiar with Jason’s old band None Left Standing. They were GREAT.
